Licorice is incompatible/ xiang fan with the following herbs and may cause adverse or toxic reaction in the body.

- jing da ji (Radix euphorbiae pekinensis)
- yuan hua (Flos genkwa)
Aconite (Fu zi, Chuan Wu, and Cao Wu)
Aconite fu zi (Radix Lateralis Praeparatus Aconiti ), Chuan Wu (Prepared Sichuan Aconite), and Cao Wu (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii Preparata) are incompatible/ xiang fan with the following herbs and may cause adverse or toxic reaction in the body.
- bai ji (Rhizoma bletillae)
- bai lian (Radix ampelopsis)
- ban xia (Rhizoma pinelliae)
- chuan bei mu (Bulbus fritillariae cirrhosae)

Veratrum (Li Lu)
Veratrum is incompatible/ xiang fan with the following herbs and may cause adverse or toxic reaction in the body.
