When you see this badge, it means AiQUIN has checked, directly on the practitioner's primary state licensing board's own public record, that:
- The practitioner's name matches their primary acupuncture license
- Their license is active, valid, and in good standing
AiQUIN verifies this at the time a profile is first marked Verified, and rechecks it automatically when the license's expiration date passes — a profile with an expired license loses its Verified status until it's renewed and reconfirmed. Outside of that expiration check, we don't continuously monitor every state board for new disciplinary actions between renewals, so we recommend confirming a practitioner's current standing yourself before relying on this badge for a care decision, the same way you'd double-check any credential that matters to you. Six states can't currently produce a Verified badge through this check: Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Dakota have no public authority that licenses or tracks acupuncturists at all, and Arkansas, New Mexico, and West Virginia have a licensing board but no way to search its records online, so either way there's no public record for us to check against. A practitioner based in one of these six states isn't unverified because of anything about their actual training or standing — it's a gap in what's publicly checkable, not a mark against them.
