In the second intercostal space • On the mamillary line • ST-12 to ST-18 are in a straight line, 4 cun lateral to the midline • ST-12 to ST-18 carry the risk of injuring the lungs
Needling
Type: Transverse, Oblique    Depth:  0.5 to 0.8 cun
Description: Transverse-oblique insertion laterally or medically along the intercostal space 0.5 to 0.8 cun • Transverse insertion superiority or inferiority along the channel 
Caution: Deeper or perpendicular insertion can puncture the lung
