Decoction Directions: 
  • Qian Dan is a heavy metal and is usually substituted by other herbs with similar function.  Qian Dan is potentially toxic. 
  • Leave out Da Huang and boil all other ingredients in 8 cups of water until the liquid is reduced by half.  Then add Da Huang and bring to boil.  Take 1 cup per dose.

+ Tian Ma + Gou Teng Delirium[22]

Chai Hu: Do not use as intramuscular injections • Liver fire • Hyperactive liver yang • Cytochrome P450, 2C9, 2E1, 2D6, and 3A4 • Greater than 19g may lead to liver injury

Qian Dan: This herb is no longer in use today because it is a toxic heavy metal.  It is often substituted with Zhe Shi (Hematite).
